MISSION
FANN’s Real Florida Landscapes™ CEU Series provides industry professionals with information they need to succeed with native plants in landscape and restoration projects. Continuing education credits are provided for professionals affiliated with ASLA (landscape architecture), APLD (design), FNGLA (horticulture & landscape), ISA (arborists) and other organizations as requested.

AUDIENCE/ATTENDANCE
Leading green professionals throughout Florida and the Southeastern U.S. attend FANN courses. Nearly 60% of course attendees are registered landscape architects and LEED accredited professionals. Attendees also include designers, installers/maintenance professionals, environmental consultants, municipal and nonprofit staff engaged in landscape and restoration, growers, retail nurseries and garden centers. Attendance ranges from 40-100 students per class.

COURSE CONTENT & FORMAT
FANN invites new courses with fresh perspectives and information each year. FANN is always interested in course topics including but not limited to the following:

  • available but underutilized native landscape plants
  • native plants for specific ecosystems and geographic regions
  • native plants for urban landscape settings and other challenging conditions including constructed meadows, ponds, bioswales, green roofs, roadsides and medians, residential yards, container gardens, parking lots, shaded areas
  • native plants to attract and support pollinators and other wildlife
  • native plants for upland, wetland and coastal restoration and mitigation
  • edible and medicinal native plants for landscapes and specialty gardens
  • best practices in the selection, use and maintenance of native plants
  • lessons learned from professional use of native plants

Courses are provided in conjunction with FANN’s annual Native Plant Show. We prefer courses of one hour in length. Our show facility provides professional classrooms equipped with screen, projector and laptop.

Course instructors are welcome to acknowledge their organizations and provide contact information to attendees. Course sponsors are designated by FANN. Sponsors underwrite the seminar series and will be given exclusive sponsor privileges such as signage and speaker introductions.
